Summer school on Health law and Ethics (The Erasmus Observatory on Health Law/Institute of Health Policy & Management, Erasmus University, Rotterdam)

The Erasmus Observatory on Health Law/Institute of Health Policy & Management announces the annual Summer school programme on Health Law (July 1-11, 2014), providing health professionals and practitioners, with an opportunity for intensive training in various aspects of health law and ethics over a two-week s period. The Summer school offers a custom-developed course taught by leading academics in their field. The course is designed to enhance the preparation of health professionals confronted with legal and ethical issues. The course focuses on both theoretical and practical aspects of health law and ethics:

– Human Rights and Health
– Sexual and Reproductive Health
– Public Health
– Bioethics and the Law
– Essential medicines

I Jornada Osasuna eta Justizia/I Jornada Salud y Justicia

Los días 16 y 17 de junio ha tenido lugar en el Auditorium Mitxelena  de Bilbao la I Jornada Osasuna eta Justizia/I Jornada Salud y Justicia, organizada por Osakidetza y la Universidad y el Gobierno del País Vasco. Dirigida a personal facultativo y de enfermería, además de letrados, médicos forenses, jueces, fiscales y abogados.

VII Encuentro interautonómico sobre protección jurídica del paciente como consumidor

Entre los días 14 a 18 de julio y por séptimo año consecutivo, se celebra en la sede de Santander de la Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (Palacio de la Magdalena) el Encuentro Interautónomico sobre Protección Jurídica del Paciente como Consumidor.

Bajo la dirección de Jorge Tomillo y Joaquín Cayón, el programa aborda temas de interés y actualidad para el sector sanitario, centrándose en recientes reformas normativas tales como las relativas al comercio electrónico de medicamentos, las TICs en la salud (e-health y m-health), la libertad de circulación de pacientes y recetas en la UE y la regulación de las profesiones sanitarias con especial atención al futuro de la profesión enfermera.

European Association of Health Law  2014 Conference : «Access to Health Care: Looking for a Legal Road Map» (Riga, University of Latvia on  28-29 April 2014)

Healthcare is a Human Right. “Everyone, irrespective of their ability to pay, should have access to the health services they need, without putting their families at financial risk”. Joint WHO and World Bank statement, February 19, 2013.

Health is a value in itself and is also a pre-condition for economic growth and social cohesion. The discourse of human rights greatly impacted the rapid evolution of health care law in Europe. Continuing debates rage over how to balance citizen’s growing demands for universal access to health care with UN development goals. The problem of how to recognize the right to health care while at the same provide the access to that health care results in implementation challenges.

The European Health Law Conference in University of Latvia in Riga will gather together health law and policy experts to examine and to discuss today’s critical challenges in European health law, in respect to access to health care. It is an opportunity to share scientific knowledge and stimulate the development of innovative tools for meeting modern demands. Leaders in the field will present a wide range of hot topics touched by the challenge of balancing human rights with health care law.

Presentación de la e-revista científica Cuadernos Iberoamericanos de Derecho Sanitario/Cadernos Ibero-Americanos de Direito Sanitário

La presentación ha tenido lugar en el Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, en un acto que ha contado con invitados de la Consejería de Sanidad y Servicios Sociales, el HUMV, la Fundación Marqués de Valdecilla, la Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo y la Red Iberoamericana de Derecho Sanitario. Se trata de una publicación de la Red Iberoamericana de Derecho Sanitario, que reúne a profesionales e instituciones académicas del Derecho y la Salud involucrados en el estudio, la docencia y la investigación del Derecho Sanitario en América Latina y la Península Ibérica. Es una revista on-line, bilingüe (portugués-español), de acceso libre y periodicidad semestral, destinada a difundir la producción académica en el campo del Derecho Sanitario y dirigida a profesores, investigadores y estudiantes de Derecho, de Ciencias de la Salud y de Ciencias Sociales, operadores del Derecho y profesionales y gestores de servicios y sistemas de salud.
